Global MPN Scientific Foundation is proud to announce the creation of its Medical Advisory Board, a group of internationally recognized physicians and researchers who will provide scientific and clinical guidance to support the Foundation’s mission in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN).

The Medical Advisory Board brings together leading expertise in hematology, oncology, clinical research, patient education and MPN care. Its role will be to help strengthen Global MPN’s educational initiatives, support responsible scientific communication and ensure that the needs of people living with MPN remain at the center of the Foundation’s work.
For patients and families, access to clear, reliable and understandable information is essential. MPNs are complex chronic blood cancers, and patients often need to navigate medical decisions, evolving treatments, clinical trials, quality-of-life issues and long-term follow-up. A strong Medical Advisory Board helps Global MPN continue to build bridges between science, clinical practice and the patient community.
The members of the Global MPN Medical Advisory Board are:
Prof. Ruben Mesa, Hematologist and internationally recognized MPN expert.
Prof. Serge Verstovsek, Hematologist and one of the leading global experts in myeloproliferative neoplasms.
Prof. Haifa Kathrin Al-Ali, Hematologist and oncologist, with extensive clinical and research experience in MPN and other myeloid malignancies.
Prof. Jesús María Hernández, Professor of Hematology, with a strong background in hematological malignancies, molecular diagnosis and clinical research.
Prof. Susanne Isfort, Hematologist and oncologist, with experience in cancer center leadership and clinical care.
Prof. Marta Soba, Hematologist and researcher with experience in MPN and hematological diseases.

A new step for Global MPN
The creation of the Medical Advisory Board represents an important step in the growth of Global MPN Scientific Foundation.
As a patient-centered foundation, Global MPN works to improve awareness, education and access to reliable information for people affected by MPN around the world. This new board will help guide the Foundation’s scientific direction and contribute to the development of educational content that is accurate, responsible and useful for patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals.
The Board will also support Global MPN in identifying priority topics for the community, promoting dialogue around research and innovation, and helping translate complex medical knowledge into accessible information.
This does not replace the individual relationship between patients and their healthcare teams. Every patient’s situation is different, and medical decisions should always be made with the treating hematologist. However, better education and stronger scientific guidance can help patients ask better questions, understand their options and feel more connected to the progress taking place in the MPN field.
Science, education and community
Global MPN believes that progress in MPN requires collaboration: patients, clinicians, researchers, advocates, families and organizations working together.
The Medical Advisory Board reflects that commitment. It brings together medical expertise from different countries and perspectives, with one shared goal: to support a better-informed and more connected MPN community.
We are deeply grateful to the members of the Medical Advisory Board for their commitment to Global MPN and to the people living with myeloproliferative neoplasms.
This is a new chapter for Global MPN, and we look forward to continuing this work with scientific rigor, transparency and a strong patient-centered vision.
